Unbundle not creating any output

Mar 28, 2012 at 6:27 PM

Hello all, great utilities!

I'm splitting 835 files on loop 1000 using unbundle to obtain separate files for each EOB report.

I fed an archive of 452 files through a VB script I wrote and one of the 835 input files caused UnbundleX12.exe to produce no output.

I could redact out the private info and post the troublesome 835 if necessary.

It appears to be a simple money transfer. It has a Transaction Control Number and  a 1000A and 1000B loop, but there are no 2xxx loops.

Should not UnbundleX12 still produce an output file in this case?

Thank you.

There is not a LoopId="1000" in the embedded spec:  OopFactory.X12.Specifications.Ansi-835-5010Specification.xml.

If there was it would pick it up if "2000" was a child loop of "1000".  But since "1000A" and "1000B" are sibling loops, if you pick any of those it won't pickup the "2000" loop.

What you are doing might not be a good candidate for UnbundleByLoop.

I've been meaning to add an UnbundleByTransaction since it appears that there are a lot of users needing to unbundle but the UnbundleByLoop appears to be too granular.

Pardon, I'm confusing functions I'm using in two different scripts.

But yes, a split-by-transation option would be useful to me.

Thanks for your reply.

I have updated the UnbundleX12 console app so that you can specify "ST" as the loop ID and it will unbundle by transaction.  It is checked into changeset 15643.  Hopefully this will meet your use case better.
